Dental Implant
An implant is a material/device put inside the body. A dental implant is an ‘implant'(inside body) to replace missing teeth. Thus by the nature of its purpose, it is also a type of prosthesis (an artificial substance to replace a missing body part).
Most commonly used dental implants are made of titanium. Implants made of ceramic and PEEK are also available.
A dental implant is common nowadays to replace missing teeth as it is gives fixed teeth and does not harm the adjacent teeth as in regular dental bridges. Although the dental bridge has been here for a long and served its purpose, the advantages of implant outweigh that of the bridge. Most common is caries under the capped teeth which eventually fail, failing the bridge itself. Still, many doctors prefer making bridges over implants ( which is not wrong), as it has a long successful history. Choice of bridge or implants depends on both patients and doctors.
Dental implants are a prosthetic procedure with a surgery component. The implant screw is surgically drilled into the bone. The doctor is specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, thus trained and experienced in performing advanced implant surgeries. We also use advanced computer-assisted and guided implant surgery to give precise results We promise to make sure that the procedure is as painless as clinically possible and give patients a comfortable experience.
